Grande Mestre Nô

Master of Masters
Grande Mestre Nô is a living legend in the Capoeira Angola world. His career spans over 76 years, and he has trained tens of thousands of students and graduated hundreds of Mestres. Born in Bahia, Brazil, Grande Mestre Nô has been instrumental in shaping Capoeira Angola’s global presence, founding renowned academies including the Associação Brasileira Cultural de Capoeira Angola Palmares (ABCCAP). Grande Mestre Nô’s influence in Seattle continues through his student, Mestre Mangangá, whom he considers his right-hand man in the United States. Mestre makes annual visits only to Seattle in the United States.

True “De Verdade” Rasuli Emeka

Instructor, Tacoma Capoeira Center

True “De Verdade” Rasuli Emeka is an Afro-Indigenous Seattle Angoleiro whose Capoeira journey began with his father, Gabriel Emeka, a pioneer member and founder of FICA Seattle under Mestre Jurandir. Raised within the rhythms and philosophies of Capoeira Angola, True built on this foundation when he began training under Mestre Mangangá at the Seattle Capoeira Center.
Under the guidance of Mestre Mangangá and the lineage of Grande Mestre Nô, True deepened his understanding of Capoeira Angola’s cultural and historical legacy. In 2023, he was graduated to 1st-degree Instructor of Capoeira Angola by Mestre Mangangá and Grande Mestre Nô.
A school teacher by profession, True merges his passion for education with his Capoeira practice, leading kids’ classes and fostering the next generation of Angoleiros. He now directs the Tacoma Capoeira Center under Mestre Mangangá’s supervision, expanding Capoeira Angola’s reach and impact in the community.
True brings his Afro-Indigenous heritage, educational expertise, and lifelong connection to Capoeira into every roda, class, and initiative, honoring the legacy of his father, his Mestre, and the generations before him while building bridges for the future.
